A ring thing

Yesterday I made this ring!

I wanted to do something simple, so I went for a modern style. I'm really happy with how the textured part turned out. The ring is not completely even but still pretty close- it's hard to make symmetrical shapes on free hand! On the other hand, it's also nice that one can tell it is handcrafted.

When you fire metal clay jewelry, the fired piece comes out with a whiteish surface on top that has be removed with a for example a brass brush. Then, to get that sparkly silver finish, the piece is burnished. On this ring, I burnished everything except for the textured motif. It looks pretty good, but I have to buy a better burnisher- with the one I'm using now it's quite easy to make ugly scratches (very counterproductive!).

  1. I like the ring. The unfinished top gives it intrest.

  2. Thanks, Therese! It reminds me of the ring of The Phantom (you know, the super hero in blue spandex who lives in the jungle). Hehe.
